Burning sensation. Pain. Protective gloves. Protective clothing. Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention. EYES Redness. Pain. Blurred vision. Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor. INGESTION Burning sensation. Diarrhoea. Dizziness. Nausea. Vomiting (further see Inhalation). Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Rinse mouth. Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention. SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING Evacuate danger area! Eliminate ignition sources! Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer. Do NOT absorb in saw-dust or other combustible absorbents. Remove vapour with fine water spray (extra personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus). Fireproof. Separated from incompatible substances (see Chemical Dangers). Cooled. Keep in the dark. Store only if stabilized. Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. PHYSICAL DANGERS: The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible. CHEMICAL DANGERS: The substance can form explosive peroxides in contact with air. The substance may polymerize under the influence of acids, alkaline materials, such as sodium hydroxide, in the presence of trace metals (iron) with fire or explosion hazard. The substance is a strong reducing agent and reacts violently with oxidants. Reacts violently with various organic substances, halogens, sulfuric acid and amines, causing fire and explosion hazard. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs): TLV: 100 ppm; 180 mg/m3 as TWA (ACGIH 1991-1992). TLV (as STEL): 150 ppm; 270 mg/m3 (ACGIH 1991-1992). ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion. INHALATION RISK: A harmful contamination of the air can be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C. EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE: The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Inhalation of the vapour may cause lung oedema (see Notes). The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system , resulting in lowering of consciousness. The effects may be delayed. EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE: Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis. The substance may have effects on the central nervous system, respiratory tract and kidneys , resulting in chronic alcohol-like intoxication. This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans.
